Module 2 reflection: The Old Testament and the diaconal ministry of justice, worship, and mercy

Write approximately 1,000 words answering: How does the Old Testament form a deacon? Develop one coherent reflection across the module rather than four unrelated unit summaries.

Engage at least three primary Scripture passages supplied in the module. Explain them in context, use at least one insight from your own Scripture Study word work, and hold worship and justice together. End with two concrete practices: one of prayer and one of service that this module has changed or confirmed in you.

Upload one PDF or DOCX at the end of Unit 2.4. This reflection is a portfolio item. The Course Director may read it alongside your earlier vocation reflection to follow your formation. The daily notes, preparation labs and private cohort-discussion summary are supporting work, not additional uploads.

How your work will be reviewed

The Course Director will give formative feedback using the criteria below. Strong work is accurate, contextual, clearly reasoned and practically grounded. Developing work identifies relevant ideas but needs fuller evidence or clearer connections. Work needing revision contains significant errors, unsupported claims, incomplete requirements or unclear authorship. This upload records submission; it does not by itself certify that your portfolio has been approved.

• Coherent theological argument: a clear answer joining themes from the module.
• Primary-text engagement: at least three passages interpreted accurately in context.
• Responsible Scripture-tool use: an independently checked observation, with a clear distinction between lexical evidence and application.
• Integration: worship, justice and mercy held together with practical pastoral judgement.
• Formation and communication: two specific sustainable practices, clear writing, acknowledged sources and confidentiality.
