Welcome to the Institute of Ministry. This short orientation will help you use the learning site with confidence before you begin your first course.

There are twelve brief units. Together they explain how to sign in, find your courses, move through a unit, track your progress, submit an assignment, take a quiz, review feedback, download course files, and ask for help.

Complete it once

You need to complete this orientation only once. When you later enrol in another Institute course, your completed orientation remains valid and you will not be asked to repeat it.

How to work through it

Take the units in order. Use the navy circular navigation controls beside the content to move backwards and forwards. At the end of each page, use Mark as done when you have finished. The final practice activities carry no academic marks; they simply let you try the controls in a safe place.

How long you have

Your place on this course is held for six months, counted from the day you are enrolled rather than from any fixed date in the calendar. This is a short course and most people finish it in a single sitting, so six months is a generous allowance rather than a tight one.

Four weeks before your access is due to end, a reminder is sent by email both to you and to the Institute. That is the only automatic notice you will receive, so it is worth noting your own date when you begin rather than relying on the reminder alone.

When the six months are up, your access to the course closes. Nothing you have done is lost. Your submissions, your grades, and your quiz attempts are all retained, and should you return, they are still there. If circumstances have genuinely intervened and you need longer, write to the Institute at institute@apostolicoldcatholic.org before your access ends. Extensions are not granted automatically, but neither are they grudged, and an arrangement made before the door closes is a far simpler thing than one made afterwards.

When you are ready, move on to Unit 2.
