Unit 5 — Sections, units, and activities
Approximate time for this unit: 4 minutes
Institute courses are divided into sections. A section gathers related learning and may be collapsed or expanded on the course page.
Units and reading activities
A unit is a focused piece of learning. Some courses use ordinary pages; others use book-like chapters. Read the activity from the beginning and complete any exercise it contains.
Different courses use different activities
Some courses include assignments, quizzes, downloadable files, case studies, forums, or certificates. Others do not. This orientation introduces assignments and quizzes so that the controls will be familiar if you meet them later.

Your course page shows the learning sequence and your current place.
Why something may be greyed out
An activity may be visible but temporarily unavailable. The note beneath it explains what you need to finish first. This keeps the learning sequence orderly without hiding what lies ahead.
Do not assume every course has the same number or type of activities. Follow the instructions in the course you are studying.
