Reading response — due at the end of Unit 2.3
Submit 500–700 words on one of the three prompts assigned in Unit 2.2. Draw on that unit’s teaching and supplied CPDV passages. Optional material may enrich your thinking but is not needed to answer.
- “Genesis 1 is a liturgical proclamation, not a laboratory report.” Explain the role of genre and what the chapter positively teaches about God, creation and human beings.
- “The Exodus is the Old Testament’s definition of God.” Explain the four actions in Exodus 3:7–8—seeing, hearing, knowing and coming down—and give one concrete example of how they shape a community’s service.
- “Grace precedes demand.” Explain the order of rescue and law in Exodus and apply it to a pastoral response to someone who thinks God will love them only after they improve.
Identify your chosen prompt. Make a clear central claim, support it from the relevant passages, distinguish context from application and conclude with a proportionate ministry implication. Upload one PDF or DOCX, separately from the Scripture Study worksheet. This is a portfolio item.
How your work will be reviewed
The Course Director will give formative feedback using the criteria below. Strong work is accurate, contextual, clearly reasoned and practically grounded. Developing work identifies relevant ideas but needs fuller evidence or clearer connections. Work needing revision contains significant errors, unsupported claims, incomplete requirements or unclear authorship. This upload records submission; it does not by itself certify that your portfolio has been approved.
- Answer to the chosen prompt: a focused argument within 500–700 words.
- Biblical understanding: accurate use of the Unit 2.2 CPDV passages and their context.
- Reasoning and application: explained connections rather than slogans or an unsupported promise.
- Communication and integrity: coherent paragraphs, your own words, acknowledged sources and protected privacy.
Return to Unit 2.2 or open its complete Scripture readings. Submission completes the activity; read and respond to the tutor’s feedback when returned.
