Module 4 teaching piece — the Creed and its historical origin
Explaining the Creed and its historical origin to an adult Christian preparing for ministry
Write approximately 1,000 words for an intelligent adult Christian who regularly prays the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed but has never been taught where it came from. Explain what a creed is and why the Church confesses one. Tell the essential story from baptismal confession through Arius, Nicaea and Constantinople. Explain one article or phrase with Scripture and history together. End by explaining why this ancient text deserves a Christian’s voice today.
Use the complete planning guide and marking rubric, the approved received texts and relevant supplied CPDV passages. Your audience should not need to consult an optional video or external document to understand your explanation. Write in plain, warm, accurate prose. This is an explanation, not a list of dates or a display of technical vocabulary.
Upload one PDF or DOCX, maximum 32 MB. Keep it separate from the Lord’s Prayer worksheet. The tutor assesses the piece out of 100 using the approved weights: theological and historical accuracy 40; relevant CPDV Scripture 20; clear explanation of one article or phrase 20; pastoral clarity, structure and audience 20. No additional numerical pass threshold is imposed on this portfolio submission. Submission completes the activity for progression; you must still read and respond to tutor feedback and any requested revision.
