Unit 7.4 — Prayer as formation — reflection
Write 400–600 words reflecting on your experience of the Daily Office since the start of the programme. Explain where prayer has formed your attention, truthfulness or care for others, where it has felt like performance or avoidance, and what change in your Rule may help.
Use Unit 7.4 Day 4 and the required Scripture to interpret your experience. Ordinary dryness or difficulty is not proof of failure. You are assessed on thoughtful engagement and application, not on claiming a particular spiritual experience. Do not reveal confidential information about anyone else.
How your work will be assessed
| Criterion | Weight | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Thoughtful reflection | 40% | Specific, honest examination of experience without unsupported claims. |
| Understanding of formation and performance | 30% | Uses the taught distinction carefully, without confusing difficulty with failure. |
| Practical application | 20% | Explains a realistic change to the Rule arising from the reflection. |
| Clarity | 10% | Coherent writing within the word range, with accurate references where needed. |
Strong work is accurate, well explained and applied to the task; sound work meets the criterion with minor gaps; developing work needs clearer explanation or application; insufficient work has substantial omissions or misunderstanding. Your tutor will identify any revision needed. Only the supplied teaching and required Scripture are assessed.
